Claims process

We may cover loss or damages that result from events or incidents we could have foreseen or prevented. Examples include loss associated with an improper power disconnection or damage to a driveway or fence caused by a Rocky Mountain Power vehicle.

We don't typically pay claims associated with power outages or food spoilage since uninterrupted power is not guaranteed (see details for Utah, Idaho and Wyoming).

We generally don't pay claims as a result of damages caused by:

• Weather-related conditions
  • lightning
  • floods
  • extreme heat or winds
• An emergency de-energization or Public Safety Power Shutoff
• Animals
• Third-party vehicle accidents 
• Non-payment of bills

We aim to resolve claims within 30 days from the time the claim and all supporting documents are received. We investigate every claim carefully and in good faith.

You may wish to file a claim directly with your insurance company. Your policy may have additional coverage, such as replacement cost coverage, and your carrier may be able expedite your claim without an investigation. If you file a claim with your insurance company, they will likely make a claim with us for reimbursement.
