Infrastructure incentives

Make-Ready project incentives help pay upfront costs for electrical infrastructure and installation of electric vehicle service equipment.  Priority will be given to projects that are demonstrated to be viable with a strong commitment by the applicant.

Higher awards may be granted to projects that are expected to increase EV adoption or reduce transportation emissions, and projects that are in the public interest and prudent as outlined in section 54-4-41(4) and (7) of the Utah Code.

Application deadlines are quarterly on March 31, June 30, September 30 and December 31.

Please note: To provide equitable funding access to as many dealerships as possible, dealerships are no longer eligible for make-ready funding and can instead apply for the prescriptive charger incentives. The maximum incentive for these projects is $250,000 per site.

  • With multi-port chargers, each port must be capable of supporting 125 kW when all ports are being used simultaneously to be eligible for the maximum incentive .

Equipment must be on the approved chargers list.

Requirements and qualifications for all Make-Ready projects

Projects that receive Make-Ready funding are not eligible for AC Level 2 Charger rebates nor DC Fast Charger rebates.

All projects must be preapproved before any construction work begins.

Funding will only be available for installed chargers. Future proofing costs will not be covered by Make-Ready grants.

Sites that are proposing to install AC Level 2 chargers and DC Fast Chargers can apply for Make-Ready funding. The maximum incentive per site will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
