EV charger must be new equipment, Underwriters Laboratories (UL) or equivalent certified by a National Recognized Testing Laboratory, and be purchased on or after January 1, 2026, to be eligible. 

AC Level 2 chargers require 240-volt electricity, similar to the plug used to power a typical clothes dryer in a home. The demand for a Level 2 charger can charge up to 19.2 kilowatts for commercial models. The specific rate will vary depending on the charger and electric vehicle.

DC Fast Chargers require 480-volt three-phase power to operate. A DC Fast Charger typically draws between 50 and 350 kilowatts of demand, depending on the charger and electric vehicle.

For incentive purposes, Rocky Mountain Power considers a charger dual port if two vehicles can charge simultaneously with two charging ports connected to one charger. Some chargers may have two charging cables with two different port types (e.g. combination of CCS, CHAdeMO, and/or NACS charging ports), but can only charge one vehicle at a time. These chargers are not considered dual port for incentive purposes. Please check with your vendor of choice to determine the charging capabilities for your needs.

Dealerships are eligible to apply for prescriptive charger incentives. An up-to maximum of $60,000 will apply for each dealership location.

Please refer to your applicable city/county/state for any ordinances, requirements, and permits needed for your project. Applicants are responsible for verifying projects are up to code and meet all local, state, and federal requirements.

Yes. Dealerships have a site maximum of up to $60,000 in combined AC Level 2 and DC Fast Charger incentives. All non-dealership sites have a site maximum of up to $200,000 in combined AC Level 2 and DC Fast Charger incentives. Rocky Mountain Power may, at its discretion, increase this cap.
