Blue Sky community projects are helping bring renewable energy to places that provide stability, care and opportunity for people working to rebuild their lives. By pairing solar and battery installations with services that focus on health, housing and healing, Blue Sky participants are supporting organizations that address complex challenges with long-term, community-centered solutions.
The Other Side Village is a peer-led therapeutic community in Salt Lake City, Utah that empowers individuals to move beyond chronic homelessness through stable housing, personal accountability and meaningful connection. The first phase of this project includes the construction of 60 private residences for the chronically homeless, along with a 17,000-square-foot clinic and community center where residents can receive care from Sacred Circle Healthcare, an organization owned by the Confederated Tribes of the Goshute Reservation. Sacred Circle’s focus is ensuring access: Ethnicity or socioeconomic status do not restrict someone from receiving complete healthcare. The project was awarded Blue Sky funding to install and connect solar and battery storage to the private residences, along with a battery system at the health clinic and community center. The Other Side included these installations to offset their energy consumption and keep operational costs low, allowing more funding to go into programming that aims to help people who are chronically homeless in Utah.
Blue Sky participants help projects like The Other Side Village keep energy costs lower and reliability higher, so more resources can go directly into housing, healthcare and supportive programming. As more customers choose Blue Sky, the program can continue to support innovative community models like this one, helping build a more resilient energy future for people across the West.
