Beaver Mountain customer updates

After burning for more than two months and covering 97,464 acres, the Cottonwood Fire significantly affected customers, property owners and the Beaver Mountain community.

We recognize the hardship and uncertainty many are facing, and we’re committed to providing information about the work required to rebuild the electrical infrastructure. The fire caused extensive damage to electrical facilities and changed the surrounding landscape in ways that currently prevent the safe access and construction of the main transmission line serving Beaver Mountain. In many areas, post-fire erosion, flooding risks, hazardous vegetation and road access must be addressed before crews can safely begin rebuilding.

We are working to assess damage, support recovery efforts, and plan for the safe rebuilding of electric infrastructure serving the area.

Quick customer updates:

  • Power will not be restored before winter. Electric service will not be restored before winter in the Beaver Mountain areas that remain affected by Cottonwood Fire damage. Customers in these areas should winterize homes, businesses and other facilities and plan for alternative power or heating if needed.
  • Billing has been paused for customers whose properties cannot currently receive electric service because of fire damage.
  • Rocky Mountain Power is not providing backup generators. Customers using backup power should work with a licensed electrician and review safety information at RockyMountainPower.net/BackupPower.
  • A firm restoration timeline is not yet available. Crews are continuing assessments and planning with local, state and federal partners as weather, access, ground conditions and environmental requirements allow.
  • Information may vary by location. This website provides general updates about electric system damage, recovery planning, rebuilding work and customer resources for the Beaver Mountain area. Information will be updated as assessments continue and additional details become available.
  • Keep your contact information current so we can provide you with updates and alerts.
