Rocky Mountain Power assessing damage in response to Salt Lake City-area earthquake

Rocky Mountain Power is aware of a large-scale power outage due to a 5.7 magnitude earthquake. Initially, approximately 73,000 customers were affected along the Wasatch Front. Restoration steps have reduced that to about 49,000. We are working with emergency responders to assess the situation so we can restore power safely. We are reviewing the structural condition of our own buildings and substations for safety, so customers should be prepared for an extended period without power. We remind customers to stay away from downed power lines and report them by calling 1-877-508-5088.

We appreciate your patience. Our thoughts are with customers directly affected by this morning’s incident.
