Solar projects are helping community organizations in Wyoming, thanks in part to Rocky Mountain Power’s Blue Sky® renewable energy program participants.
Lander Care and Share Food Bank installed a 5-kilowatt solar array several years ago with the help of a Blue Sky grant. In 2023, the food bank was awarded a second Blue Sky grant of $65,200 for an 11-kilowatt solar array that used the facility’s remaining roof space, plus 10 kilowatts in battery storage.
The solar and battery system will help the food bank save on operating costs so they can provide nutritionally balanced food boxes to Lander residents each month.
Laramie Interfaith received a Rocky Mountain Power Blue Sky grant of $100,300 for a 16-kilowatt solar array with battery storage. The solar array and battery will provide 60% of Laramie Interfaith’s annual energy and provide back-up energy for their walk-in freezer and refrigerator.
For both food banks, the grants will help make more funds available to purchase food for the pantries.
Blue Sky provides customers with an easy way to support renewable energy development and community-based renewable energy projects like these.
