Service you can rely on

You can count on us for safe, reliable and low-cost power. While we continue building on our strong reliability track record, sometimes extreme weather or other circumstances can cause outages. Our advanced network is designed to alert us when a power outage occurs so we can fix it as soon as possible. We’re constantly enhancing our connected, resilient energy grid to provide you with reliable power.

System investments

Safety and service reliability are our top priorities. As extreme weather conditions and elevated wildfire risk become more common in the West, we’re making important updates across our system to build a hardened, future-ready grid:

  • Installing thousands of miles of covered wires, fire-resistant poles and aerial spacers.
  • Expanding our vegetation management practices to provide safe corridors around power lines.
  • Integrating advanced technology, a network of hundreds of weather stations and a dedicated meteorology team to better understand weather’s impact on our system, enhance our situational awareness and respond to potential risks in real time.

Grid innovation

Rocky Mountain Power’s parent company, PacifiCorp, led the formation of the Western Energy Imbalance Market in 2014 with other utility partners. The market, which includes 22 participating utilities, uses a sophisticated system to automatically balance demand every five minutes with the lowest cost energy available across the combined grid.

By connecting multiple utilities across the West, the WEIM is dramatically lowering greenhouse gas emissions and helping unlock the potential of a low-cost, reliable, and resilient energy system.

Since joining the WEIM, we’ve saved our customers over $745 million so far. The savings get bigger every year and help us keep prices low for customers.
