Blue Sky grant recipient renovates 50-year-old building
Utah Clean Energy recently celebrated the grand opening of a new facility in Salt Lake City, Utah, supported by a Blue Sky grant. The new Climate Innovation Center is a renovated 50-year-old building that is expected to serve as a model for reducing emissions and creating net-zero buildings.
The facility features both a solar canopy and battery storage, which were supported by the Blue Sky grant and are designed to provide all of the building’s energy needs. This saves on costs, enabling the center to operate without the need for additional energy sources, such as natural gas. That allows them to focus valuable resources on serving the community instead.
