Cool Keeper
At Rocky Mountain Power, we are working to find new ways for our community to use energy efficiently. Participating in Cool Keeper is one way you can help.
Cool Keeper is available to Utah Rocky Mountain Power residential and business customers along the Wasatch Front with electric central air conditioning.
To verify program eligibility and to sign up for the program, call 1-800-357-9214.
Generally the control area is within the following geographic boundaries:
West - East side of the Oquirrh mountain range and Tooele
East - West side of the Wasatch mountain range
South - Elberta, Utah north (including Elberta)
North - Pleasant View, Utah south (including Pleasant View)
How does the bill credit work?
Participants receive a monthly credit each year, even if there aren't any Cool Keeper events. The thank-you credit is provided on your Rocky Mountain Power bill during May through September billing cycles. Partial credit is applied when enrollment begins after the start of the cooling season (May 1). Participants who enroll after October 1 will receive the full credit in the following year.

How large is the Cool Keeper device?
The Cool Keeper device is small and it attaches to either the exterior of your house or to the outside of the AC unit.
The Cool Keeper device measures only 5.95" x 9.25" x 3.23".
When can the program be activated?
Rocky Mountain Power may activate Cool Keeper events at anytime according to the following criteria:
Dispatch period: May 1 through September 30
Available dispatch hours: 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Maximum dispatch hours: 100 hours per year
Dispatch days: Monday through Friday, excluding holidays
Dispatch duration: Events will be limited to four hours per day
In the event of a system emergency, Rocky Mountain Power may, at its discretion, expand the dispatch criteria beyond the parameters listed.
Will I notice any changes in my home's temperature?
The air conditioning fan continues to circulate the cool air in your home. Most customers don't notice the typical temperature change of approximately 1 to 4 degrees. More than 100,000 customers are currently participating in the program, and 98% of Cool Keeper participants are satisfied with the program.
What if I don't want my Cool Keeper device activated on a specific day?
Events can happen at any time. If you would like to make sure the Cool Keeper program isn’t activated at your home for a specific date, please call us at 1-800-357-9214 and you can “opt-out” for the day. Please call at least one hour before your event to opt-out.
Participants in the program may opt-out twice each summer season. Please note, if you opt-out more than twice, you will be unenrolled and will not receive future bill credits.
Can I cancel?
While more than 98% of program participants are satisfied, if you become dissatisfied, you can ask to leave the program at no cost. However, you will no longer be eligible to receive the annual $30 bill credit.
If you choose to re-enroll in the program; you can do that at any time. After two un-enrollments you may no longer be able to receive the annual $30 bill credit.
