How does the $30 bill credit work?
Residential customers who participate will receive a monthly credit totaling $30 each year. The thank-you credit will be provided on their Rocky Mountain Power bill during May through September billing cycles. A partial credit is applied when enrollment begins after the start of the cooling season (May 1). Participants who enroll after October 1 will receive the full $30 credit in the following year.
When can the program be activated?
Rocky Mountain Power can dispatch Cool Keeper events according to the following criteria:
Dispatch period: May 1 through September 30
Available dispatch hours: 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Maximum dispatch hours: 100 hours per year
Dispatch days: Monday through Friday, excluding holidays
Dispatch duration: Events will be limited to four hours per day
In the event of a system emergency, Rocky Mountain Power may, at its discretion, expand the dispatch criteria beyond the parameters listed.
Will I notice any changes in my home's temperature?
The air conditioning fan continues to circulate the cool air in your home. Most customers don't notice the typical temperature change of approximately 1 to 4 degrees. More than 92,000 customers are currently participating in the program, and 98 percent of Cool Keeper participants are satisfied with the program.
What if I don't want my Cool Keeper device activated on a particular day?
If you would like to make sure we don’t activate the Cool Keeper program for your home for a particular event or date, please call us at 1-800-357-9214 and you can “opt-out” for the day.
Participants in the program are allowed to opt-out twice each summer season. Be aware that if you opt out more than twice, you will be unenrolled and will not receive future bill credits.
Can I cancel?
While more than 98 percent of program participants are satisfied, if you become dissatisfied, you can ask to leave the program at no cost. However, you will no longer be eligible to receive the annual $30 bill credit.
