Rocky Mountain Power encourages outage preparedness as storm looms

With predictions of heavy snow throughout the next few days, Rocky Mountain Power is reminding customers and the public to take precautions to stay safe and comfortable.

“We always prepare when forecasts anticipate severe weather,” said Curtis Mansfield, Rocky Mountain Power vice president of operations. “We make sure our on-call personnel are ready and all of our equipment is prepared and stocked with needed repair supplies. We also prepare to move personnel from parts of our service area that are not affected by the storm, to areas that may need additional assistance if damage from weather occurs.”

Every home and business should have an Emergency Outage Kit that includes the following:

  • Flashlight
  • Battery-operated radio and clock
  • Extra batteries
  • Non-perishable foods
  • Manual can opener
  • Bottled water
  • Blankets

If a power outage occurs, Rocky Mountain Power encourages customers to first check their fuses and circuit breakers. If the power failure is not caused inside the home or business, customers should report the outage at 1-877-508-5088 or text OUT to 759677.
