Utah State University – Matthew-Hillyard Animal Teaching and Research Center

USU solar project funded by Blue Sky customers

Utah State University expanded from their Logan location to include facilities in Wellsville to accommodate their growing student population.

USU has implemented many energy efficiency efforts to reduce energy costs and this 66-kilowatt solar array will further help to reduce utility bills, ultimately helping stabilize tuition rates. The solar array is ground mounted adjacent to the new Matthew Hillyard Animal, Teaching and Research Center.

This project is intended to show students, faculty, staff and neighbors that solar power is a viable renewable energy source to provide a significant percentage of the power used in a commercial application.

The ATRC is used by 200-300 students each day who will learn about how solar energy works through an educational kiosk that also displays real-time solar energy generation information.
