Utah Public Health Lab Renewable Energy Park

solar poles

The Utah Department of Health's Public Heath Laboratory celebrated Earth Day with a newly completed solar panel park in Taylorsville. The solar panels will help offset the energy used by the public health lab, which usually consumes 5-10 more times the energy compared to an average office building. The 6.1 kilowatt project consists of 11 solar panel overhangs placed along a walkway and 3 picnic tables equipped with solar shades. Each solar overhang pole produces 460 watts and each picnic table solar shade produces 460 watts.  The solar park is the first phase in what is envisioned to be a larger renewable-energy park that will also incorporate wind and geothermal power, as well as additional solar energy power.
