summit county heath solar

This 263-panel roof-mounted solar installation at the Summit County Health Department building houses a nonprofit health clinic in addition to the County’s public health offices. This 70.8-kilowatt project will demonstrate the synergies between renewable energy and its impact on community and individual health. This installation is part of Summit County’s larger effort to reduce its carbon emissions by 13 percent by the end of 2013.

The project also includes a solar demonstration water fountain that  provides an interactive experience for visitors of the health department – when the solar panel is shaded, the flow of the fountain is directly impacted. To serve as an educational tool, a kiosk displaying the system’s real-time energy generation is located in the reception area of the building and shows how energy conservation and renewable energy positively impact a community. All information displayed will be both English and Spanish to reach a broad audience.
