Mountainland Applied Technology College – Orem Campus Geneva Building

Orem, Utah

This 33.84-kilowatt solar system installation at the Mountainland Applied Technology College’s (MATC) Orem campus was part of the College’s renovation of their Geneva Building. This building was chosen for the installation because of its highly visible location and its educational focus on training students who were part of the installation, operation and ongoing maintenance of the campus’ renewable energy projects.

The foyer of the Geneva building houses an educational monitoring system display that shows the system’s real-time energy generation information.

The mission of the MATC is to provide market-driven career and technical education to both secondary and adult students. MATC teaches electrical, plumbing and HVAC trades and this installation demonstrates a working system that will stimulate the awareness of these opportunities in the fields which energy systems are installed and maintained. The project will also teach staff and community about the environmental and financial benefits of solar energy.
