The Jordan Valley Water Conservation District (JVWCD) Education Center now hosts a partially Blue Sky-funded 18-kilowatt solar array atop the roof their new LEED certified building. The system is estimated to generate more than 25,000-kilowatt hours of renewable solar energy each year to provide up to 20 percent of the building’s electricity use. This project includes a system generation display in the center’s lobby to serve as an educational tool for visitors.

The JCWCD Education Center is a free, regional learning facility where a wide range of groups can go to learn principles of water conservation and sustainability, particularly through waterwise landscaping practices. This building will serve as the new entrance to the facility’s Conservation Garden Park and will include a classroom area, a greenhouse and a “rammed earth” wall, a unique and identifying environmental feature that will assist in heating and cooling portions of the building.
