SALT LAKE CITY — Last year Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District (JVWCD) engaged in energy saving efforts that saved over 9.3 million kilowatt hours, equivalent to the energy used by 1,040 homes in a year. For that immense accomplishment, Rocky Mountain Power named JVWCD a wattsmart Business Partner of the Year.

“Jordan Valley Water’s leadership instilled confidence in their employees to use a systems-thinking approach for creative and large-scale decisions that favorably impacted energy cost savings,” said Raenee Bugarske, Rocky Mountain Power wattsmart project manager. “These are extraordinary energy savings and definitely an achievement to be recognized.”

Rocky Mountain Power provided $275,134 in incentives for two capital improvement projects as well as a Strategic Energy Management program, which works to promote a culture of support for energy efficiency in organizational decision making. This resulted in $372,275 in annual energy costs savings.

“Jordan Valley Water is a valuable partner of the wattsmart Business Program and an excellent steward of its resources,” Bugarske said.  “Rocky Mountain Power is proud to honor this organization for its partnership and its example in using energy efficiently.”
