Spanish Fork Wind Farm
Utah’s first commercial-scale wind project is located in Utah County. Rocky Mountain Power Blue Sky customers will be supporting most of the renewable energy credits from this facility. Consumers, schools, businesses and local government also will benefit economically from this project. The total revenue to the Nebo School District is estimated to exceed $4.95 million during the first 40 years of operation and $3.6 million during every 20 year project phase thereafter. The city of Spanish Fork and Utah County also will receive ongoing property tax revenues on each of the turbines. The wind farm is unique in that it is confined to a small, 65-acre area in the perpetually windy Spanish Fork Canyon. The nine towers are estimated to produce 55 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually.
