Evanston to Silver Creek
Project Overview
Our company is always working to provide safe, reliable and efficient electric service to its customers. In response to the growing electrical needs of our customers, we announced a transmission project to improve electric service reliability and operational flexibility in the area. Since the project was announced in 2008, the company continues to work with local officials and the public regarding the transmission line.
Since the last update on this project, significant progress has been made and a line route has been selected. Beginning at the Railroad substation near Evanston, Wyoming, the 138,000-volt transmission line will connect with the Silver Creek substation near Park City, Utah, crossing the Devil’s Slide area. This transmission line will both benefit all customers in the region and address specific needs of customers in Morgan, Rich and Summit counties.
Working with elected officials and with landowners in the area, local permits for the project are in process and rights of way are being obtained. Construction on the northern portion of the project, between the Wyoming/Utah border down to Devil’s Slide substation in Morgan County, began in April 2011 and is nearly complete. Construction from Devil’s Slide south to the Silver Creek substation will likely begin in late 2016 or early 2017.
The final phase of the project will involve constructing a new regional substation in Croydon, Utah, southeast of the Devil’s Slide substation. This substation, when placed in service in 2016-2017, will tie in all aspects of the project to enhance reliability.
Periodic updates will be made to this website as the Evanston to Silver Creek transmission project moves forward.
