Ben Lomond to Terminal

Project Overview

The Ben Lomond to Terminal portion of the Populus-Terminal transmission line was the first segment completed as part of the Energy Gateway transmission expansion project. It added a new double-circuit, 345-kilovolt transmission line stretching approximately 46 miles from the existing Ben Lomond Substation in Box Elder County to the existing Terminal Substation located near the Salt Lake City airport. This section of the line was built alongside existing high-voltage lines and was put in service to customers in March 2010, ahead of schedule and within budget.

Public Participation

Public input is an important part of the transmission line development and was sought throughout the process of planning and building this project. The company gathered input during public open houses, such as those held in 2007 and 2008. In addition to public, group and individual meetings, project materials and newsletters (PDF) were sent to landowners and other interested parties.
