Recommissioning

A building check up through our Recommissioning program could save you up to 15 percent in energy costs.

What is Recommissioning?

"Commissioning" a new building helps to ensure correct operation of a facility's major systems when they are first installed.

"Recommissioning" existing buildings helps to restore the original intended operating performance. If your facility has not been recommissioned or properly commissioned in the first place, you could be spending extra money on energy costs.

Recommissioning a facility targets these savings opportunities through the systematic evaluation of electrically powered systems and the subsequent implementation of no- and low-cost measures.

What Recommissioning can do for your facility

Recommissioning your facility can result in:

  • improved system operation and lower energy costs
  • reduced maintenance and repair costs and extended equipment life
  • improved occupant comfort and productivity for tenants and employees

How can Recommissioning help?

Our Recommissioning program provides free expert building analysis to help lower energy costs by optimizing your building's energy use. Incentives are also available to reduce the implementation costs of identified Recommissioning measures if the estimated simple payback is greater than one year. The Recommissioning program also provides an opportunity for your staff to work with expert engineers to increase their knowledge of the efficient and effective operation of building systems.

Examples of typical recommissioning measures include:

  • improved outside air control
  • decreased supply air pressure setpoint and system rebalancing
  • reduced supply air temperature and fan speed in air handling units

What doesn't the program cover?

Our Recommissioning program does not provide engineering support or incentives for capital equipment measures.

The program also does not provide services for new construction or to meet commissioning requirements of other incentive programs offered by Rocky Mountain Power.
