Irrigation Load Control
Our two irrigation load control programs offer financial incentives to irrigators who agree to curtail their electricity use during certain periods.
To participate, irrigators choose which sites to enroll in the program and the load control option that will best meet their needs. The program runs from June 1 through August 31 each year. Participants are awarded a credit on their October statements.
Dispatchable Irrigation Load Control Program
With this option, irrigation equipment is set up with an advanced two-way control system that allows customers to manage regular irrigation turns via the Internet or phone.
Changes to this program are pending before the Idaho Public Utilities Commission. The changes may impact the amount of the credit, the penalty for opting out of a load control event, and participation requirements.
Filing with Proposed Changes to Schedule 72A
Prescheduled Irrigation Load Control Program
This option involves installing an electronic timer at participating sites. From June 1 through August 31, the timer interrupts power to the pump according to the pre-determined curtailment schedule.
