Centennial Road Tour with Slim the Lineman to Central Utah Communities Day 2

It was another exciting day on our road tour visiting with the people of central Utah and seeing the sites. Thanks for welcoming us!

The first stop on day 2 of the road tour was our natural-gas fueled Currant Creek Power Plant in Mona.

Currant Creek Power Plant

As in every part of the company, Currant Creek power plant is committed to safety. The employees work at staying safe on the job and as Slim and plant manager Jared Kissell point out, the plant has an impressive safety record to show for their efforts!

On his way to Gunnison, Slim stopped for a photo in Levan, Utah. The name of the town is "navel" spelled backward – some say because it's located in in the center of the state! Slim bumped into fellow Rocky Mountain Power worker Ken Nash, who was headed to a job in Richfield.

At the Gunnison Barber Shop, Slim went in for a quick haircut with barber Todd Neil.

Slim and Gunnison Mayor Lori Nay are big fans of the historic Casino Star Theatre! The Rocky Mountain Power Foundation provided support for the beautiful renovation of the theater, which is coming up on its 100th anniversary. Originally a vaudeville theatre, the Casino Star now shows movies and hosts live concert performances.

Slim wanted to hear the roar of the mighty Sanpitch Dragon, who lives in a mural beneath Highway 89! The Rocky Mountain Power Foundation is supporting another upcoming public art project in Gunnison.

On the road in Salina, Slim really wanted a soda to quench his thirst!

Slim enjoyed his Ideal Slush with a happy, young customer at Ideal Dairy in Richfield.

It's a gorgeous day at Snow College Richfield campus! The Rocky Mountain Power Foundation provided support for the Sevier Valley Center when it was built in the early 2000s. The college also has improved the energy efficiency of its administration building and the Sevier Valley Center with help from Rocky Mountain Power's wattsmart programs.

Slim was excited to meet Rocky Mountain Power employees at our Richfield service center!
