Being Wattsmart and Video Savvy Brings $10,000 in Energy Efficiency Prize to Salt Lake City Family

August 01, 2011

SALT LAKE CITY – Rocky Mountain Power is pleased to announce the winners of the Act wattsmart Video Contest. The contest was an innovative way for Utah customers to tell their stories about saving energy. The Grand Prize winners are Martin and Jessica Patch of Salt Lake City.

The Patch’s are a young family and their video cleverly played off the fact that as their family has grown so has their commitment to energy efficiency. In their video, the milestones of new babies and a new home are chronicled alongside the purchase of better insulation in the attic and an efficient air conditioning system. The Patch’s still have a lot of work to do on their home and used their video to show many ways they could put their prize money to good use.

“We congratulate the winners and appreciate the time and effort of all Utah families and individuals who submitted videos for our Act wattsmart contest,” said Carol Hunter, Rocky Mountain Power vice president. “We are very pleased with the overall quality, creativity and useful information the videos provide for our customers and others. They do a fantastic job of showing how we can all be wattsmart by taking steps to save energy and money.”

The video contest winners are:

Additionally, Brent Carroll of Farmington won the Voters Award of $500 in energy efficiency merchandise from Lowe’s. Rocky Mountain Power customers in Utah who voted for their favorite video were able to be entered into a drawing for the Voters Award.
