Energy Assistance Program Helps Idaho Residents

August 20, 2010

Rocky Mountain Power, its customers and employees have joined together in the Lend a Hand program to provide energy assistance funds to help low-income households in eastern Idaho meet their energy needs. Contributions for the 2009-2010 program year totaled $40,000 – $32,965 from Rocky Mountain Power and $7,035 from its customers and employees.

“We want to thank all in the community who have donated to the program during the past 12 months,” said Glen Pond, Rocky Mountain Power customer and community manager. “In the current economic environment, assistance with utility payments can make a big difference for Idaho residents whose resources are stretched thin. The Lend a Hand program is one way we can work together to help our neighbors in need.”

Funds raised through Lend a Hand donations are distributed by the SouthEastern Idaho Community Action Agency and the Eastern Idaho Community Action Partnership directly to those who need assistance. During the 2009-2010 program year Lend a Hand has provided energy assistance to 188 Idaho households.

“The Lend a Hand program makes a vital difference for many people facing difficult circumstances,” said Julia Campbell, SouthEastern Idaho Community Action Agency. “Lend a Hand donations from Rocky Mountain Power, its customers and its employees provide a needed resource to help people in these difficult economic times.”

“Rocky Mountain Power has been a steadfast supporter of at-risk families with the Lend a Hand program,” said April Winters, Eastern Idaho Community Action Partnership. “Working together and with support from Rocky Mountain Power customers, we can provide a helping hand to even more people in the coming year.”

Donations to Lend a Hand can be made through donation envelopes included with Rocky Mountain Power bills in November, February and June. Rocky Mountain Power customers also can choose to add a fixed monthly Lend a Hand donation to their electric bill. To enroll in the fixed donation program, call toll free at 888-221-7070.
