Change to on-peak and off-peak time periods

The 2005 Federal Energy Policy Act extends daylight-saving time three weeks in the spring and one week in the fall beginning in 2007. To ensure that you are billed the appropriate rates for energy usage during the additional weeks of daylight-saving time, the peak time periods for electric Time of Day rates will begin and end one hour later between the second Sunday in March and the first Sunday in April.  More specifically, for 2008, daylight-saving time begins on March 9 and ends on November 1.

Does this affect me?

This change to the on-peak and off-peak time periods only affects you if you are on an electric Time of Day rate schedule, which means your electric energy charges are based on the day of the week and the time of day you use electricity. If you are not sure if you are on a Time of Day rate schedule, please call us at 1-888-221-7070.

What are the on-peak and off-peak time periods during the additional weeks of daylight-saving time?

To ensure that you can continue to take advantage of lower, off-peak energy rates during these additional weeks of daylight-saving time, please remember to adjust your energy use according to the Time of Day peak time periods outlined below.

Will this last beyond 2007?

The Department of Energy will be reviewing the impact the new daylight-saving time has on energy consumption. The results of the study will determine whether the new daylight-saving time will continue.
