PORTLAND, Ore. — Pacific Power’s charitable arm, the PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning, recently awarded more than $93,500
for local health and human services programs in the Portland area. The majority of funding will go toward programs that benefit
children and families.
“The PacifiCorp Foundation is pleased to be able to provide support for programs that are having a positive impact for Portland-area
children, families and individuals in need of health and welfare services,” said Stan Watters, president of Pacific Power
and PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning board member. “These grants are one of four annual cycles of funding for programs in
education, health and human services, arts and culture, and civic and community betterment.”
The largest grants included $10,000 to the Oregon Burn Center for its education and prevention program, $10,000 to the Boy
Scouts of America-Cascade Pacific Council for its day camp for at-risk youth, $10,000 to the Morrison Child and Family Services
home-based early intervention program, $8,000 to the Cascade AIDS Project youth HIV prevention initiative, and $7,500 to Self
Enhancement, Inc.’s summer middle school reading enhancement program.
“Our company has a special appreciation for the Oregon Burn Center because of the risks our linemen take every day to ensure
our customers have reliable electric service,” Watters said. “We also enjoy supporting programs that give our youth a chance
to grow healthy and succeed.”
