PacifiCorp Foundation matches employee United Way donations

More than $430,000 to benefit Wyoming residents in need

CASPER, Wyo. — The PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning, the charitable arm of Pacific Power, contributed more than $40,000 this spring to United Way of Natrona County and United Way of Converse County. The funding matches local PacifiCorp employee donations from the company’s 2005 employee giving campaign and is part of $436,000 contributed by employees and the foundation to United Way organizations statewide.

“Employees at PacifiCorp’s Dave Johnston Power Plant and the utility’s local service centers always are very supportive of United Way’s mission to assist people in need, and this matching grant from the PacifiCorp Foundation will further enable our efforts,” said United Way of Natrona County Executive Director Shanna Laible. “Gary Harris, a manager at the Dave Johnston plant, was appointed to our board of directors in January and has become a very active member. Gary’s wife, Linda, is a volunteer for Meals On Wheels, which is one of our member agencies.”

“PacifiCorp Foundation funding doubles the impact of individual employee donations in Wyoming from $218,000 to $436,000 providing twice the benefit to people throughout the state,” said Leslie Blythe, Pacific Power’s regional community manager. “We recognize the important role United Way plays in our communities, and we are pleased to help support the services they provide to Wyoming residents.”

The PacifiCorp Foundation awarded an additional $13,500 to Wyoming organizations for the following community programs and projects:

  • Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Wyoming (Douglas) – Hands-on math, science and technology program for Douglas youth;
  • Fort Casper Museum Association (Casper) – Exhibit design and installation and interior furnishing for museum expansion project;
  • Science Zone, Inc. (Casper) – Science Zone Afternoon demonstrations and learning labs for children from low-income families at Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Wyoming facilities;
  • Glenrock Early Childhood Center– Playground development project for the center’s new facility and
  • City of Worland– Playground equipment for Sanders Park.
