YREKA, Calif. — When kids in Northern California’s “Frontier” look for something to do, many turn to the local Siskiyou Family
YMCA.
The PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning, which serves as the charitable arm of Pacific Power, is helping the YMCA address local
needs by donating $5,000 toward a new stage at the YMCA’s Teen Activity Center.
“We’re just grateful — not only to the PacifiCorp Foundation for helping us complete Phase I of our facility master plan,
but also for Pacific Power’s ongoing support,” said Janet Zalewski, Siskiyou Family YMCA executive director. “They’re helping
us keep the promise that ‘No Child is Left Behind.’”
Phase 1, which has just been completed, includes an activity center, ADA restrooms and a mile-long fitness trail.
“The YMCA is a wonderful community resource - it really is the focal point for youth activities,” said Sally LaBriere, regional
community manager for Pacific Power. “The facility is used by the elementary and high schools for team practices, social activities
and special events.”
The Siskiyou Family YMCA is located at 350 Foothill Dr. Call 530-842-9622 for more information.
