KEMMERER, Wyo. — The Natural Sciences Resource Center of Southwest Wyoming (NSRC) will benefit from a $2,000 grant awarded
in September by the PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning, the charitable arm of Pacific Power. The NSRC serves as a liaison
between the people of Southwest Wyoming, local educators and state and federal agencies by providing educational information
about the wise use of the area’s natural resources.
“Thanks to Pacific Power’s belief and support of the educational services provided by the NSRC, usage at the center has tripled
with patronage from the local schools, Kemmerer’s Family Discovery Center, Kemmerer’s Alternative School, individuals and
home educators,” said Theresa Salzetti, NSRC executive director. “We look forward to even more success in the future.”
The resource center contains both donated and purchased science resources that otherwise would not be easily obtainable by
local educators and those in educational roles. With the aid of PacifiCorp Foundation funding, the NSRC will be able to implement
outreach efforts, help local, state and federal agencies field the educational requests they receive, purchase additional
resources and staff the center.
“We are pleased to be able to assist the NSRC in their efforts to provide important information about the natural resources
in Southwestern Wyoming to educators and agencies, who in turn share the information with interested residents and visitors
to the area,” said Craig Nelson, Pacific Power’s regional community manager. “The PacifiCorp Foundation awards four cycles
of grants annually in the areas of education, health and welfare, community and the arts.”
