Say "See ya later, refrigerator" and earn a $30 cash incentive from Rocky Mountain Power. Do you have an old refrigerator or freezer in your garage or basement? Are you planning to buy a new refrigerator or freezer?
If so, please contact us to pick up your old one. We’ll properly recycle your old unit, and you’ll receive $30 for taking
part.
Why get rid of your old refrigerator or freezer?
-
Save energy – Refrigerators built prior to 1990 can use two to three times more energy than a high-efficiency one built today.
-
Save money – By discontinuing the use of a second refrigerator, you can save about $150 a year on your electricity bill.
-
Protect the environment
– When we say we'll properly recycle your old unit, we mean about 95 percent of it will be reused. This is important since old units are not biodegradable.
-
Get paid
–Receive a $30 incentive payment.
-
Free compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) – You’ll also receive a free kit at the time of pickup, including two free CFLs and information to help you use less
electricity.
What is eligible?
This program is offered to all Rocky Mountain Power residential customers in Idaho, Utah and Wyoming. Refrigerators must
be in working condition and must be plugged in to verify they are working. Units a minimum of 10 cubic feet in size (based
on inside measurements) qualify for the program. Please make sure your old unit is empty when it is picked up.
Remember, when shopping for a new refrigerator or freezer, look for ENERGY STAR® labeled models. You may be eligible for an
incentive through our Home Energy Savings program.
To schedule a free pick up, sign up online
or call toll free 1-866-899-5539.
This program is offered to a limited geographic area from October 15 and March 15 each year because of possible weather and/or
road conditions. If you are not sure about your area, please call 1-866-899-5539.
Customers must own the unit(s) being recycled. Limit two units per residential address. A check will be mailed to you within
4-6 weeks after the appliance collection. Rocky Mountain Power has contracted with JACO, an appliance recycler, to pick up
and recycle refrigerators and freezers.
